Students of the Interior Design and Product Design Degree at the Higher School of Design of the Region of Murcia have had the opportunity to visit About Blank, a leading space in the world of design, in order to enrich their learning and prepare for the challenges of the future workforce.
This visit, organized by About Blank and the faculty along with its professors Chema Frutos and María José Martínez, allowed them to experience firsthand the wide variety of materials and finishes used in both interior and exterior design projects.
During their tour, the students explored the various exhibits offered by About Blank, ranging from sustainable materials to innovative finishes that set trends in contemporary design. They were able to observe and touch different types of surfaces and finishes, allowing them to better understand how the choice of materials influences the aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability of design projects.
Interacting with industry experts provided them with a more technical understanding of the durability, strength, and maintenance of materials, key aspects for their future professional careers. For the students, this visit represented a valuable opportunity to integrate the theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom with the reality of the industry, familiarizing themselves with current trends and labor market demands. Without a doubt, this experience contributed to strengthening their skills and abilities, bringing them one step closer to their future as professional designers.
In addition to learning about the diversity of materials, students participated in hands-on workshops where they were able to experiment with finishes and application techniques. This allowed them to understand the technical details of each material and how they can be transformed into key elements of a successful design.
